Premise:
Today, in one of my sessions, a client and I were talking about their fears of taking certain chances on themselves. We discussed the usual fear of success and fear of failure. Prematurely, we went into problem-solving questioning. What should I do more of? What do I need less of? Performance, high achievement, winning. But, as we went deeper, we came to the place that all good conversations arrive to. The why underneath the presenting fear. Beyond the shoulds or shouldn’ts we asked why this energy, this dilemma was important. At first, silence, darkness of thought, a paralysis of the soul as if the system was not ready to entertain such a basic and inner-cutting pondering. I asked again, “why my friend, why is this important?”
