Premise:
The alarm screams at me at 6AM. I’m already pissed. As a misplaced sense of self-autonomy I rebel against myself and turn it off. My inner adult had predicted this the night before and made sure to set several alarms. At perhaps the 6th attempt, the animal finally consents to wake and engage the morning. With every step there is a tug of war between the adult and the animal, each trying to sway the ego to follow them their direction. The adult is ready for action, time is of the essence, and he’s ready to seize the day and he speaks judgments upon the ego whom he believes is not moving at a fast enough pace. The animal is sleepy and grumpy and does not comprehend out this rush matters. Somewhere in the middle of these two forces the ego is torn feeling both the pressure from the adult but also the apprehension of the animal.
